Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Jayanta Basumatary has expressed firm confidence that his party is poised to form the government once again in the upcoming 2025 council elections. Speaking to reporters during his visit to inspect the stadium at Kamalabari in Salbari, Baksa, the MP asserted that preparations are in full swing and the party is ready to face the electoral battle ahead.
"We are fully confident that we will form the government again, and we are hopeful that we will deliver good results along with that," Basumatary said, signaling the party’s upbeat mood as elections approach.
Reacting sharply to the recent political developments, the MP took a jibe at the new alliance between the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) and the Gana Suraksha Party (GSP), describing their partnership as akin to that of "a snake and a mongoose" — a clear indication of deep mistrust and rivalry between the factions.
On the prospect of future alliances, Basumatary informed that discussions regarding the BJP-UPPL partnership for the upcoming council polls will be held soon. "Our party is fully prepared for the council elections," he reiterated, dismissing speculations about the party’s readiness.
Commenting further on the role of GSP, the MP downplayed its significance in the political landscape. "Where GSP stands today and what it is doing is not a matter of importance for us," he said, brushing aside the party's influence.
During his visit to Baksa, Basumatary inspected ongoing developments at the Kamalabari stadium, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in the region.
