In a testament to the power of love transcending religious and societal boundaries, Amina, a woman from Medli Tea Garden in Patharkandi, Karimganj, has embraced Hinduism and changed her name to Radha Ravidas to marry her love, Shyam Ravidas. Their poignant love story highlights the challenges and triumphs of cross-religious unions in contemporary India.
Amina legally converted to Hinduism in 2020, forsaking her Muslim faith with the intention of marrying Shyam. However, due to societal pressures and fear of non-acceptance, the couple spent four years hiding in different states. During this period, they also welcomed a son into their lives.
Their perseverance and commitment were finally rewarded when, under the auspices of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, they were able to formalize their union through a traditional yajna ceremony. The event was attended by many well-wishers who celebrated their marriage and extended their best wishes for a happy life together.
