Assam: Nagaon Police arrest wanted drug peddler, seize 20,000 drug-laced tablets

In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Nagaon Police achieved a significant success by arresting a notorious drug peddler late last night.

The accused, identified as Moinul Haque, also known by his alias ‘Bhai’, was apprehended from Bengenati area of Nagaon.

During the operation, police seized a staggering 20,000 drug-laced tablets from his possession.

According to officials, Haque had been a key supplier of illegal drugs to students across various schools and colleges in the Nagaon region, raising serious concerns about youth involvement in substance abuse.

The arrest is being hailed as a major step in curbing the local drug network. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the distribution chain and identify other individuals involved.

Superintendent of Police, Nagaon, praised the efforts of the team involved in the operation and reiterated the department's commitment to making the district drug-free.
