Assam: Nagaon police intensify crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses, two held
Assam Police have intensified operations against illegal slaughterhouses across various parts of Nagaon district, warning that no operators involved in the illegal trade will be spared.
As part of the ongoing crackdown, a police team on Sunday conducted a raid in Puranigudam and seized around 15 kilograms of banned meat. Two alleged smugglers, identified as Abdul Aziz and Raju Ali, were arrested during the operation.
Police said both accused are currently being interrogated as the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, allegations have also surfaced about the alleged open sale of banned meat at Tiniali Chariali in Juria, where illegal trading activities are reportedly continuing openly.
The district police have launched parallel operations in multiple locations as part of a wider drive against illegal slaughterhouses and banned meat trade in the district.
