Assam: Nakari overbridge in Lakhimpur to be completed by December 2025, says MLA Manab Deka

Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling promises as he visited the ongoing construction site of the overbridge at the Nakari railway crossing on Sunday. The project, expected to be completed by December 2025, aims to address long-standing public grievances over traffic congestion and delays caused by frequent railway gate closures.

Speaking to India Today NE, Deka sad that it is indeed introduction through deeds, not words that we should work.

"We are dedicated to ensuring this project is completed in a timely manner to ease commuting challenges for the public,” he said.

The overbridge at Nakari, a critical link connecting Lakhimpur town to key destinations like Lilabari Airport, Lakhimpur Medical College, and Saboti Army Camp, has been a long-pending demand. Residents have repeatedly voiced concerns over traffic disruptions, particularly during emergencies when railway gates remain closed.

Earlier in August 2024, frustration over delays prompted locals to stage a protest, urging the government and MLA Deka to expedite the project. The demonstrators also warned of road blockades if further delays persisted.
