Assam: NEFR GM inspects Kokrajhar Railway Station for Amrit Bharat Scheme

Chetan Kumar Srivastava, General Manager of North East Frontier Railway (NEFR), visited Kokrajhar railway station on Friday to oversee the ongoing reconstruction efforts under the Amrit Bharat scheme. Accompanied by a substantial contingent of officers and employees aboard a special train, Srivastava dedicated approximately half an hour to scrutinizing various aspects of the construction progress at the station.

During the inspection, Srivastava acknowledged the demands from the residents of Kokrajhar city and the district for a railway stop. "We are keenly aware of the community's needs, and once the reconstruction of Kokrajhar railway station is finalized, it is anticipated that several important long-distance trains will halt here," he stated.

Amarjit Gautam, Regional Manager of Alipur Railway Division, revealed that proposals have been submitted to higher railway authorities to regularize train services, including the Gosaigaon, Dhubri-Shilghat Rajyarani Express, and Shilghat-Alipur via Dhubri, among others. Gautam assured that plans are in place to incrementally increase train stops, ensure regular services, and enhance infrastructure at Kokrajhar.
