Assam: Newly elected hill council members take oath, Debolal Gorlosa sworn-in as CEM

The oath taking ceremony of the elected members of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) was held today at the Haflong Library Auditorium in Assam's Dima Hasao district. BJP's Debolal Gorlosa took oath as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the hill council. 

All of the 28 newy elected members of the were administered their oaths by The District Commissioner of Dima Hasao district, Seemanta Kumar Das.

The oath taking ceremony began today at 12 o'clock in the day. The 25 elected members and 3 independents took the oath in their respective mother tongues. 

Former CEM of the North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council and BJP candidate Debolal Gorlosa, who won from Dihangi constituency of the Hill Council, told reporters that elections for the post of chairman of the Council will be held by tomorrow. 

Gorlosa also said that today the legislative council will meet to decide for the post of Speaker, Besides, the name of the speaker will be decided by the BJP party and after discussions in this regard with the party high command. He said whoever is the speaker will be elected unopposed. 

Gorlosa also stated that Mohit Hojai is likely to be the next chairman of the 13th North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council. Here, he said that this is most likely because Mohit Hojai was earlier the Chief Executive Member of the hill council for which he could be the next Chairman.  

He said that in the second meeting of the Legislative Party, the council leader of the Legislative Council will be elected and the name of the Chief Executive Member of the North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council will be sent to the Raj Bhawan for the approval of the Governor. Gorlosa said this time Congress has been wiped off, hence there is no opposition in the council.

Gorlosa further said the Congress will continue to face zero status in all the elections that are held in future. He said this is because the BJP has always worked for peace and development of the state.
