Alongside other districts of Assam, Kokrajhar has also witnessed the implementation of a three-day strike by contractual National Health Mission (NHM) technical staff.
The protest, which began on March 4, will continue until March 6, with healthcare workers demanding job regularization and better service conditions.
Nearly fifty NHM workers assembled at Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar, holding banners and placards while voicing strong demands for permanent employment under the state health department.
The demonstrators stressed the need for a special appointment process to absorb them into permanent positions in newly established medical colleges and other healthcare institutions.

In addition to job security, the striking workers are also demanding a structured pay scale, salary protection, and benefits in line with the 7th Pay Commission, effective from January 1, 2016. This includes arrears and other facilities provided to regular state employees.
The protest reflects growing frustration among contractual NHM staff, who argue that despite years of service, their employment remains uncertain. They have urged the government to take immediate action to address their demands, warning of further agitation if their concerns remain unaddressed.
