Oil India FC from Duliajan emerged victorious in the 40th Swahid Trophy Invited Football Tournament, defeating Kamrupa FC with a commanding 3-0 win in the final match held at the Janata Sangha playground in Bondapara, Boko, on Friday evening. The tournament, which is recognized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), saw participation from eight teams, including one from Meghalaya.
The event was organized by Janata Sangha in collaboration with the Purnamal Jain Foundation, with the final match inaugurated by Guwahati MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi. Oil India FC's Rahul Das was named the best player of the tournament, a recognition awarded by Janata Sangha president Ranjit Das. The championship trophy was presented by Shanti Kumar Jain, while the runners-up trophy was handed over by Dibas Bordoloi.

In a gesture of respect, former footballers Bhabaniprasad Das, Rajnikant Rabha, and former referees Tajmahal Hussain and Ashok Das were felicitated prior to the final match. Munindra Daimary, former secretary of the tournament, highlighted that the competition began on August 21st, with eight teams invited to participate. These included ASEB FC from Guwahati, Eleven Star Club from Bongaigaon, Oil India FC from Duliajan, Rebels United FC from Baksa, Barmwdai FC from Goalpara, MASA FC from Nalbari, Kamrupa FC from Kamrup, and Khlieh Mawlieh FC from Meghalaya's Nongstoin.
Ranjit Das, President of Janata Sangha, emphasized that the tournament is held annually in memory of the over 855 martyrs of the Assam Movement, with this year's final attracting more than 5,000 spectators.
