Assam: Ojapali, Bhaona, and traditional art forms lit up Bajali’s Raas celebration
The vibrant spirit of devotion and culture has engulfed Moinamati in Bajali district as the five-day-long Raas festival commenced with a series of traditional and cultural programmes celebrating Assam’s rich heritage.
The festival grounds have turned into a hub of festivity, where the Raas Utsav Celebration Committee has lined up a range of events including Ojapali performances, Bhaona (traditional Assamese theatre), and solo dance competitions, drawing enthusiastic participation from the local community.
Adding to the grandeur, Local MLA and Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass graced the occasion and encouraged the people to preserve and promote the state’s age-old cultural traditions through such festivals.
A moment of reverence marked the celebrations as attendees paid floral tributes to the portraits of Dr Bhupen Hazarika and Zubeen Garg, both of whom are revered for their immense contribution to Assamese music and culture.
With soulful songs, graceful dances, and traditional performances filling the air, the Moinamati Raas Mahotsav has become a lively reflection of Assam’s spiritual devotion and artistic brilliance.
