Amidst the ongoing Rongali Bihu celebrations across the state, banned beef was allegedly discovered inside the premises of the Bhairab Temple in Dutta village, Nilambazar under Sribhumi district, Assam. The recovery of the prohibited meat has triggered widespread public outrage and unrest in the area.
According to sources, local residents were the first to notice pieces of the banned suspected meat within the temple compound. Authorities were immediately alerted, following which a police team from Nilambazar arrived at the scene and initiated a preliminary investigation.
During their search, police recovered an Aadhaar card and a PAN card from the site, which led to the identification and subsequent detention of a suspect identified as Fakor Uddin. Officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the motive and further details surrounding the incident.
In light of the sensitive nature of the case, law enforcement and community leaders have urged the public to maintain peace and communal harmony while the inquiry proceeds.
