Assam: One-year-old Tiger cub dies in Kaziranga's Burapahar range

A one-year-old tiger cub was found dead in the Bahubil forest camp area of Kaziranga National Park’s Burapahar range on the evening of May 25.

The carcass was discovered during routine patrolling by forest staff, causing concern among the forest department and conservationists.

This morning, a team led by Kaziranga Divisional Forest Officer Arun Vignesh, along with veterinary experts, conducted a post-mortem examination at the site.

Initial findings indicate that the tiger cub died from injuries likely caused by an attack from another tiger. Following standard wildlife protocols, the body of the tiger was cremated in the presence of forest officials at the Bahubil forest camp area.

Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, hosts a significant tiger population and is known for its conservation efforts.

Officials are monitoring the area to prevent further territorial aggression among the big cats.
