Assam: Over 35 juniors allegedly assaulted by senior students in Morigaon's Navodaya Vidyalaya

A shocking incident of campus violence has surfaced at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Doloichuba, Morigaon, where a group of senior students allegedly assaulted their juniors, leaving over 35 students injured.


According to reports, the incident occurred late on the night of November 5, when students from Classes 10 and 11 reportedly summoned students from Classes 6 and 7 to the basketball ground. What followed was a violent episode in which the seniors allegedly thrashed the younger students using branches of the Madhuriyam tree, resulting in multiple injuries.


School authorities, upon learning about the incident, initially attempted to mediate and settle the matter internally. However, the situation reportedly escalated further as the assault continued despite intervention efforts.


Following the repeated attacks, the parents of the victims, along with the injured students, filed a formal complaint at the Morigaon Sadar Police Station. The complaint reportedly names 11 students allegedly involved in the assault.


The incident has sparked outrage among parents and the local community, raising serious concerns about student safety and discipline within residential schools. Meanwhile, authorities are expected to initiate a formal inquiry into the matter.
