Assam: Passenger dies after falling from train at New Bongaigaon Junction

A passenger died after allegedly falling from a moving train at New Bongaigaon Junction in Assam's Bongaigaon district on Sunday, August 2, raising concerns over passenger safety at the busy railway station.
 

The deceased has been identified as Puranjay Kachari.
 

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred at Platform No. 2 of the railway station when Kachari was attempting to alight from the train. He reportedly slipped and fell onto the tracks.
 

The accident was severe, leaving the victim with both legs severed. He sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment.
 

However, doctors at Lower Assam Hospital declared him dead on arrival.
 

Family members and locals alleged that negligence on the part of the railway authorities contributed to the accident. However, there has been no official statement from the Railways regarding the allegations.
 

The incident has triggered concern among residents and commuters, with many demanding improved safety measures at railway stations to prevent such accidents.
