Assam Police have arrested Sanju Biswas from near the Bhutan border in Tamulpur on May 16, 2025, for the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl in Kaliabor.
Biswas fled and went into hiding near the Bhutan border following the incident. Uluwani police successfully apprehended him.
The Uluwani police have charged Sanju Biswas under the POCSO Act, registering the case as Case No. 25/2025.
A recent study highlights the devastating impact of such abuse, stating, "At that age, abuse and exploitation can cause profound damage that can last a lifetime. It will irrevocably shape how a child grows to see both the world and themselves. They will see the world as forever hostile and threatening. They will cling to any security or affection, no matter how bad it is for them or how malevolent the source—a vulnerability that many predators exploit in the first place."
