Assam police arrest two spa owners wanted in alleged trafficking and prostitution case in Silchar
Assam Police have arrested two people who had been on the run in connection with an alleged human trafficking and prostitution racket operating from two spa centres in Silchar.
The accused, identified as Rohit Debnath and Rupali Das, were apprehended during a special operation conducted on Saturday night, Cachar Additional Superintendent of Police Manas Saikia said.
The arrests are linked to a police raid carried out on June 25 at Lotus Spa and Lovely Spa, both located inside a commercial complex in Silchar. During the operation, police detained around 28 women from the two establishments.
Following the raid, police registered a case against Debnath and Das, the owners of the spa centres, alleging their involvement in human trafficking and prostitution. Investigators said the duo had been evading arrest since the operation.
Police said the two were finally traced and taken into custody during the special drive on Saturday. Further investigation into the case is underway.
