Assam police bust alleged prostitution racket at Nagaon bypass hotel, eight held

A police raid at a hotel on Assam's Nagaon bypass led to the arrest of eight people on Saturday, May 30, after authorities uncovered an alleged prostitution racket operating from the premises.

Acting on specific information, Borghat Police carried out the operation at a hotel and detained six young men and two women suspected of being involved in the illegal activity.

Police identified five of the arrested men as Atibur Rahman, Zahar Ali, Azaharul Islam, Rabbul and Mashadihul Islam. The identities of the remaining detainees were not immediately disclosed.

Officials said the raid was conducted following reports that the establishment was being used for organised prostitution. All those apprehended were taken into custody for questioning, and further legal action is underway.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the extent of the operation and whether others were involved in running the alleged racket.
