Assam Police bust major gambling den in Sonapur, four from Mizoram arrested

In a major crackdown, Sonapur Police raided Club Nirvana and dismantled a large gambling operation allegedly involving transactions worth several crores of rupees. Four individuals from Mizoram were arrested during the operation.

According to police sources, the arrested suspects have been identified as Lalchanhima Sailo, Lalfakawma Ralte, Lalring Heta, and Joseph Lalparmawia, all residents of Aizawl, Mizoram.

The raid was conducted after police received specific intelligence about a gambling gang running the den at the club for the past two to three days. Police officials said the operation is part of a larger effort to curb organized betting activities in the region.

This is not the first time Club Nirvana has been under scrutiny. Earlier, police had raided the premises in connection with IPL betting activities.

Sonapur Police have said that interrogation of the arrested individuals is ongoing to uncover more details about the network and other possible accomplices. Further operations and investigations are expected in the coming days.
