In a remarkable display of public service, Assam Police personnel in Badarpur have taken it upon themselves to repair a damaged portion of the historic Gammon Bridge over the Barak River.
Armed not with rifles but with construction tools, the officers were seen filling potholes and reinforcing weak sections of the bridge to ensure safer passage for commuters.
The Gammon Bridge, a crucial link connecting Barak Valley to three states, has long been in a state of disrepair.
Despite repeated concerns from the public, the responsible authorities have failed to take action. The bridge witnesses daily traffic congestion and remains prone to accidents, posing a serious risk to thousands of travelers.
This initiative by the Assam Police has drawn widespread appreciation, highlighting the gap left by departmental inaction and underscoring the dedication of the state’s law enforcement personnel to public welfare.
