Assam: Police seize 21 cartons of illegal liquor in Chirang raid, one arrested

In a significant crackdown on illicit alcohol trade, police in Chirang have made a substantial seizure of spurious liquor, resulting in the arrest of a key suspect.

Panbari police under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prasenjit Das executed a planned operation against illegal liquor in Panbari village, located within the Panbari police station jurisdiction of Chirang district. Acting on actionable intelligence, police swooped in on the illicit operation, leading to the apprehension of Montu Daimary, also known as Kaurumkang, aged 36 and a resident of Panbari.

During the raid, police confiscated a staggering 21 cartons of illegal liquor, amounting to a total of 650 liters, from various manufacturers. Additionally, a significant sum of Rs 85,000 in cash was seized from the scene. 

Montu Daimary, the alleged mastermind behind the illicit operation was arrested and subsequently brought before the Panbari police station. A case has been registered against him under section 13/24 and he has been remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation.
