Assam: Polling underway in BTR as BPF’s Diganta Goyari expresses grief over Zubeen Garg’s demise

Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) candidate from the Salbari Council constituency, Diganta Goyari, on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Assamese music legend Zubeen Garg, even as polling across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) progressed.

Voting began early in the morning across 40 council constituencies spanning five districts under tight security arrangements.

Speaking to the media after casting his vote, Goyari highlighted his ongoing engagement with the people of Salbari, stressing that the BPF has received encouraging support from the constituency. “The BPF is performing very well in the Salbari Council constituency. Today is a fortunate day for our party,” he said.

He further noted that the act of voting has brought joy and a sense of responsibility among the people. “By casting our valuable votes, everyone, along with me, is filled with happiness,” Goyari remarked.
