Assam polls: UPPL's Pramod Boro files nomination from Tamulpur, rules out withdrawal
United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) candidate Pramod Boro on March 20 filed his nomination papers for the 43rd Tamulpur Assembly constituency at the Tamulpur District Commissioner’s office.
Boro was accompanied by his wife Parul Bharali, Minister UG Brahma, MLA Jolen Daimari, MCL(A) Wilson Hasda and other party leaders during the filing.
Speaking to reporters after submitting his papers, Boro said the party’s stand on contesting the elections was firm, and there would be no withdrawal. “Our party’s decision is final. There is no question of withdrawing the nomination papers,” he said.
He maintained that the UPPL was not contesting with hostility towards any political party or individual. “We have no opposition to any political party. We also have no personal enmity with Hagram Mohilary,” Boro said, adding that he had “even sought blessings from BJP candidate Bishwajit Daimari” earlier in the day.
Outlining the party’s electoral plans, Boro said the UPPL is fielding candidates in 15 constituencies within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and five seats outside it. He expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, stating, “Out of these, we will win 10 to 12 seats.”
On alliance possibilities, Boro clarified that no commitments had been made. “We have not promised alliance or friendship with anyone,” he said.
Taking a swipe at the ruling coalition, he remarked, “NDA has a new love today. We have no intention of disturbing that love.”
