Assam polls will be a turning point, BJP to secure ‘historic mandate': Ashok Singhal

Assam Minister and BJP candidate from the Dhekiajuli Assembly constituency, Ashok Singhal, on Sunday, March 29, asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its alliance are witnessing increasing public support ahead of the Assembly elections, expressing confidence in securing a decisive mandate.

Addressing the media in Sonitpur, Singhal said that a “large number of people” are coming forward in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies. He described the upcoming polls as a potential “turning point” in Assam’s political trajectory, claiming that the electorate is poised to deliver a historic verdict.

Singhal linked the electoral momentum to concerns over national security and illegal infiltration. He alleged that West Bengal has emerged as a “weak link” in India’s security framework, claiming that infiltration from Bangladesh often occurs through that route. According to him, voters in Assam are increasingly aware of the issue and are prioritising security and cultural preservation in their electoral choices.

“The people of Assam have understood the problem of infiltration and will vote for security and the safeguard of our culture,” Singhal said, adding that these concerns are shaping voter sentiment in favour of the BJP-led alliance.

He also criticised the Indian National Congress, stating that the party has become “irrelevant” in the state’s political landscape.
