Assam: Pramod Boro has installed one speed bump near CIT and no other work done , claims Hagrama Mohilary

As the political landscape in Assam gears up for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Bodoland People's Front (BPF) Chief Hagrama Mohilary has identified the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) as a significant challenge. Mohilary's remarks come in the wake of a massive joining meeting held at Jalgaon in Musalpur, Baksa district, where around 1,500 members from various parties, including UPPL, BJP, and GSP, joined the BPF. Taking jibe at UPPL Chief Pramod Boro, Hagrama Mohilary said that Pramod Boro has not done any developmental work for BTC.

He did acknowledge one project initiated by Pramod Boro—a speed bump installation near the Central Institute of Technology in Kokrajhar. However, Mohilary stated that the BPF was confident about its prospects in the upcoming elections, planning to field candidates in the Udalguri-Darrang and Kokrajhar constituencies. The party also expressed openness to forming alliances with other political groups.

Addressing reporters , Mohilary stated, "Today's joining meeting has been successful for us. Our challenge in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be Pramod Boro's UPPL party." He criticized Pramod Boro, the leader of UPPL, for running the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) government from the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) office, raising concerns about accessibility to government schemes for members of diverse communities.

Mohilary questioned, "How will Adivasis, Gorkhas, Muslims, Garos, Rabhas, and Nathyogis go to the ABSU office to access the BTC scheme? No one believes in Pramod Boro's leadership." He further asserted that the BTC government under Pramod Boro's leadership had not garnered the support of 80-90 percent of the population, describing Pramod Boro as more of a "supplier" than a working leader.

Mohilary said , "Pramod Boro will speak against us; he has the right to express his opinions. Those who have joined the BPF today originally belonged to UPPL but have not benefited from it, so they have joined BPF." The political dynamics in Assam are set to intensify as the Lok Sabha elections draw nearer, with BPF positioning itself as a strong contender.
