Assam: Pramod Boro takes campaign to Kokrajhar market, calls for peaceful elections

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) chief and United People’s Party, Liberal (UPPL) candidate Pramod Boro hit the campaign trail on September 11 at Serfanguri market under the Dotma constituency in Kokrajhar district, where he is contesting in the upcoming polls.

Boro, accompanied by a large group of UPPL workers and supporters, met vendors and shopkeepers, urging them to support the party.

He said the UPPL’s agenda is centred on peace and development, adding that the people’s satisfaction with the last five years of governance has strengthened his confidence in securing victory.

Calling Dotma one of the most important constituencies among the 40 in the BTR, Boro told reporters he is optimistic about the outcome. He stressed that the region has witnessed progress during his party’s rule.

Addressing recent incidents of violence in Baokhungri constituency, Boro appealed to all political parties to maintain peace during the election period. He underlined the importance of democratic participation free from conflict to ensure a fair contest.
