Assam: Protest erupts at Dibrugarh railway station over unpaid wages
Workers at Dibrugarh railway station have launched a major protest demanding overdue wages. Employed on a contractual basis, the workers have halted operations, surrounding the contractor's office to voice their grievances.
The unrest began from complaints that contractor Swapnadeep Gogoi has failed to deliver full payment as promised. The workers allege that they have only received partial wages, despite fulfilling their job responsibilities. They accuse Gogoi of causing severe financial strain by withholding wages for an extended period.
Gogoi, responsible for managing contractual work for the railway department, is under scrutiny for his alleged mismanagement. The workers have vowed to continue their protest until their complete dues are settled. They have warned of an indefinite work stoppage if the issue is not resolved promptly.
