Assam: Raijor Dal announces first list of candidates for Silchar civic polls

The Raijor Dal has announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming Silchar Municipal Corporation election, naming candidates for two wards.

According to the list released by the party, social worker Ajmal Hussain will contest from Ward No. 27, while advocate Fateha Talukdar has been nominated from Ward No. 7.

Raijor Dal district president Javed Miadad Laskar said candidates for the remaining wards would be announced shortly.

The party is also witnessing continued political activity ahead of the civic polls, with several political leaders reportedly joining the Raijor Dal and expressing interest in contesting the election, party sources said.

Speaking about their candidature, Mr. Hussain and Ms. Talukdar said they would focus on issues affecting ordinary residents, civic rights and the development of Silchar.

The two candidates said they would remain accessible to residents and work towards addressing civic problems in their respective wards.
