Assam: Railway police foil arms smuggling attempt, seize pistol on Ledo express

The Lumding Railway Police intercepted an illegal arms smuggling attempt, detaining two individuals and seizing a firearm aboard the 15604 Ledo Express. The late-night raid at Lumding Junction led to the recovery of a 9mm pistol and five rounds of ammunition, preventing the firearm from reaching its intended destination in Guwahati.

The arrested individuals, identified as Sudip Malakar of Hauraghat and Rikhum La from Nagaland, were reportedly transporting the weapon from Dimapur. Authorities revealed that the suspects had planned to deliver the pistol to an undisclosed contact at the Guwahati railway station.

The railway police acted on specific intelligence, swiftly executing the raid that thwarted the smuggling attempt.
