A shocking incident of vandalism has rocked the only Assamese-medium higher secondary school in Ledo, as miscreants went on a rampage at Ledo Sankardev Vidya Pith Higher Secondary School, located in the 83rd Margherita constituency.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the deteriorating moral fabric among a section of the youth.
According to reports, a group of unidentified miscreants entered the school premises at night and carried out widespread destruction. Several trees on the campus were cut down, the concrete boundary wall was damaged, and multiple items within the school compound were left in ruins.
What has further shocked the community is the discovery of derogatory handwritten notes scattered across classrooms and the school office, targeting school teachers. These documents contained objectionable remarks and were presumably left behind deliberately to send a message.

Initial suspicion points to a gang of disgruntled students, possibly former or current, as the perpetrators of this brazen act. This marks the third such attack on the institution in recent times, indicating a troubling pattern.
Ranajyoti Neog, a member of the school’s alumni association, strongly condemned the incident, calling it a cowardly and shameful act that tarnishes the values the school stands for. “The school has been a pillar of Assamese education in this region. Such actions show the moral degradation of a few individuals who fail to understand the importance of institutions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jyotish Phukan, in-charge of the Ledo Police Outpost, visited the site and has begun an investigation. Police are examining the notes and reviewing security footage, if any, to identify the culprits. Authorities have assured strict action against those responsible.
The incident has left the local community and student body stunned, with calls for enhanced security and strict monitoring to prevent such occurrences in the future.
