Assam: RHJM-BJP to jointly contest in upcoming Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council elections

The Rabha Hasong Joutha Mancha (RHJM) will contest the upcoming Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), confirmed Sumit Rabha, Executive Member of RHAC. Speaking at the inauguration of a public meeting hall in Kenduguri village, under 27 No. Boko Council Constituency (CC), Rabha emphasized that the RHJM-BJP alliance remains strong and will continue in the forthcoming elections.

"The BJP-led government has been instrumental in supporting the existing RHAC, facilitating significant development projects in the region. While the exact seat-sharing arrangement is yet to be finalized, our alliance with the BJP remains intact, and we will jointly form the new RHAC committee after the elections," said Rabha.

Discussing the political landscape, Rabha asserted that RHJM-BJP faces no strong opposition, given the dominance of the BJP-led double-engine government at both the state and central levels. "While the Congress Party remains an opponent, they have failed to secure any seats in previous RHAC elections, and we do not anticipate a strong challenge from them in the upcoming polls," he added.

The RHAC elections are scheduled for March 2025, and preparations are already underway. Rabha confirmed that campaign activities will intensify after February 20, as the alliance gears up for the polls.

The event saw participation from key figures, including Ankur Kakati, Organizing Secretary of ARSU Kamrup District Committee, Dibya Rabha, Secretary of ARSU Boko Regional Committee, alongside several other dignitaries and local villagers.
