Assam: Road safety drive rewards rule-followers with saplings in Margherita

A road safety awareness campaign at Margherita Hill View Eco Park on Friday, February 14, put the spotlight on rising traffic accidents and the need for safer driving habits.

Organised by the Margherita Police Station Civic Committee, the initiative aimed to educate the public on traffic regulations and responsible driving.

To encourage compliance, organisers handed out saplings to individuals who followed traffic rules, reinforcing the message that safe driving nurtures not just lives but also the environment.

The event saw participation from key officials, including District Transport Officer Kanai Mahanta, Margherita Police Station Civic Society President Simanta Madhav Kotaky, and Officer-in-Charge Pratap Gogoi. Transportation department representatives and community members were also present.

This campaign is part of a larger effort to reduce road accidents by instilling better awareness and promoting responsible driving practices across Margherita.
