Assam: Rongali Bihu program cancelled in Mankachar following CM Himanta’s directive

In response to a directive from the Chief Minister, the Rongali Bihu celebration scheduled for May 20 in South Salmara Mankachar has been officially cancelled.

The Bihu Celebration Committee, along with local journalists, announced the decision as a mark of respect for the current national situation and in solidarity with the CM’s appeal. The committee emphasised that the cancellation reflects a spirit of responsibility and a collective acknowledgement of the nation's prevailing challenges.

An appeal was also issued to citizens across the country to stand united in support of India's brave warriors, underlining the need for restraint and sensitivity during this time.

The move underscores how local communities are aligning with state leadership and national sentiment, choosing to set aside festivities in favour of unity and respect.
