The Scheduled Caste (SC) Students' Association has announced that Gitashree Tamuly, wife of MLA Akhil Gogoi, will be honored with the Courage Award for her unwavering integrity. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 1 at the historic Sivadoul premises in Sivasagar.
The association extended its gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, acknowledging his zero-tolerance policy against corruption, which they believe enabled Tamuly to uphold a clean and transparent image.
Speaking on the occasion, Parash Jyoti Das, Central General Secretary of the association, urged individuals facing corruption allegations to demonstrate similar courage by voluntarily calling for investigations against themselves, setting an example of accountability.
Additionally, the SC Students' Association has raised concerns regarding the appointment of Sushanta Biswa Sarma, brother of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, in the Assam Police Service (APS). The association termed the appointment "completely unethical" and demanded a thorough investigation into the selection process to ensure fairness and transparency.
