Assam school teacher accused of hiring woman to take classes in his place
A science teacher at Jamari JBK Middle English School under the Juria education block in Assam's Nagaon has been accused of getting a young woman to take classes in his place.
A video of the woman teaching students inside a classroom has surfaced. According to allegations, science teacher Habibur Rahman had engaged her privately to conduct classes when he was not present.
The circumstances of her appointment have also raised questions, as the woman is reportedly not a regular teacher at the school.
The headmaster has allegedly said he does not know the woman’s name, while the woman herself reportedly did not know the name of the school where she was teaching.
Rahman has also been accused of harassing the woman. She alleged that he called her to his residence and attempted to assault her when no one else was present. She claimed she managed to escape.
The woman has lodged a complaint at Batadrava police station. Police are investigating the allegations.
Rahman has also been accused of frequently staying away from his teaching duties and arranging for the woman to take classes in his absence.
The allegations have raised questions over the appointment of an unauthorised person to teach students at the school and the manner in which teaching duties are being handled.
