A severe storm struck Philobari in Tinsukia district last night on March 17, causing extensive damage in several villages.
The devastating storm left a trail of destruction across various parts of the district, particularly in the Doomdooma Revenue Circle. Villages such as Gauripur, Rangpur, and Mogambasti in the Gabharubheti and Philobari areas suffered severe damage as strong winds uprooted trees, including areca nut trees, and broke electric poles.
Massive tree branches, along with entire areca nut trees, collapsed onto multiple houses, causing significant damage. Additionally, the storm ripped off tin roofs from several homes.
Furthermore, the electricity supply in the affected areas has been completely disrupted due to fallen power transmission poles and snapped wires.
Other regions, including Azad Road, Kaliapani, and Bichakupi in Doomdooma, also bore the brunt of the storm, experiencing widespread destruction.
