Assam: Severed head in Dhakuakhana murder case identified as Jahangir's, search for Sunil Gogoi continues

In a significant breakthrough in the gruesome murder case of Jahangir Hussain from Folimari Part-II, forensic analysis has confirmed that the severed head recovered from beneath the Shingia bridge in Dhakuakhana on December 1, 2024, belongs to the victim. The confirmation, provided by the CID over a phone call to Jahangir’s younger brother, Jahidur Rahman, has finally put to rest months of uncertainty surrounding his disappearance.

Jahangir was brutally murdered nine months ago, on June 1, 2024, in what is suspected to be a premeditated crime. However, despite prolonged investigations, authorities have failed to apprehend the prime suspect, Sunil Gogoi, who continues to evade capture.

The case has sent shockwaves through the region, sparking outrage among locals and family members, who remain relentless in their pursuit of justice. With the forensic confirmation now shedding new light on the investigation, the victim’s family is urging authorities to intensify their efforts to ensure that the culprit is brought to justice without further delay.

The police have yet to make any major breakthroughs, and with Gogoi still on the run, the case remains unresolved. The gruesome nature of the crime has fueled widespread calls for swift legal action, with residents and activists demanding stronger enforcement to prevent such heinous acts.

In an effort to expedite Gogoi’s arrest, Jahangir’s family has appealed to the public to share any information that might lead to his capture. Meanwhile, forensic experts continue their analysis, hoping to uncover additional evidence that could help crack the case.
