The shooting for the Bollywood film Senapati, directed by OMG-2 filmmaker Amit Rai, commenced in Dibrugarh on Thursday. The film, produced under the JAR Production banner, will be shot in the city for the next 25 days.
Nearly 98% of the film’s cast and crew have been selected from Dibrugarh, showcasing local talent. Guwahati-based actress Sulakshana Baruah has also been roped in for a role. The film’s storyline revolves around a child and a dog, with a significant portion of the dialogues in Assamese.
The shooting began with a traditional ceremony at the old colony of E&D in Amolapatty, followed by the first scene filmed at Mohanaghat. However, the technical crew, currently staying in a rented house in Dibrugarh, hails from West Bengal.
The project has received support from the Assam State Film Finance & Development Corporation and the Assam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Speaking at the muhurta ceremony, Simanta Sekhar, Chairman of the Assam State Film Finance & Development Corporation, expressed confidence that the film would boost Assam’s tourism industry and enhance the region’s cinematic appeal.
