Assam: Social Worker’s road repair work wins public gratitude, restores vital routes for commuters

In a remarkable demonstration of civic responsibility and personal commitment, social worker Sukumar Debnath has sparked a wave of development in the Fakiragram under the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) through his self-funded road improvement efforts.

On a single day under the jurisdiction of the Jaipur Village Council Development Committee (VCDC), Debnath undertook and financed the repair and gravel-laying of over three roads, enhancing local infrastructure significantly. A resident of Chithila village under No. 7 Fakiragram ST Constituency, Debnath is well-known for his longstanding humanitarian initiatives, which have garnered widespread respect among locals.

During his visit to Jaipur village, Debnath also paved a crucial access road leading to Shankardev Shishu Niketan school — a route that often turned treacherously muddy during the rainy season. The upgrade has been met with heartfelt appreciation from the community, especially from parents and students who previously struggled with the unsafe path.
