A wave of optimism is sweeping through the farming communities of Margherita as solar-powered irrigation projects continue to transform agricultural practices in the region.
The latest addition — a solar irrigation system constructed in 2 No. Alubari village under the 83rd Margherita Assembly Constituency — is proving to be a game-changer for more than a hundred farming families.
Once plagued by erratic rainfall and limited irrigation options, farmers in the area now find themselves empowered with the ability to cultivate their fields year-round. The project, facilitated by the Assam Agriculture Department and supported by government initiatives, replaces outdated traditional irrigation methods with a sustainable, eco-friendly solution.
The initiative gained momentum after local farmers approached MLA Bhaskar Sharma with their long-standing demand for reliable irrigation.

Responding swiftly, Sharma coordinated with relevant departments and secured a solar-powered irrigation project worth approximately ₹35 lakh.
Farmers in Alubari and surrounding villages have expressed heartfelt gratitude toward the Margherita legislator. With dependable irrigation now in place, many believe their agricultural productivity — and livelihoods — will see significant improvement.
“This project has changed our lives,” said a local farmer, “and we thank Bhaskar Sharma sir for turning our appeal into action.”
The success of this initiative has fueled hopes for more such projects in the future, marking a significant stride toward self-reliant agriculture in Assam’s Tinsukia district.
