Assam: Specially-abled candidate from Bongaigaon clinches victory in panchayat polls

Marking an inspiring chapter in grassroots democracy, Abdul Aziz, a differently-abled candidate, secured a resounding win in the recently concluded Panchayat elections in Assam’s Bongaigaon district.



Aziz triumphed in the contest for the member seat from the Kabaitari 1st Ward of the Kabaitari Gaon Panchayat, which falls under the Srijangram Legislative Assembly constituency. Displaying strong public support, he defeated his nearest rival by a clear margin of 103 votes.



His victory is being seen as a significant boost to the representation of specially-abled individuals in local governance and has drawn praise from various quarters for breaking barriers and setting an example for inclusivity in the political process.
