Assam: Students stage protest at CIT Kokrajhar over 24 hour power outage

The Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar, Assam witnessed a late-night protest on Sunday, August 24 as students demonstrated against a prolonged power outage that left the campus without electricity for nearly 24 hours.

Frustrated over the disruption, the students confronted Pranav K. Singh, Dean (Planning & Development), during the agitation.

According to students, Dr. Singh claimed to have close ties with Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, a remark that further fueled demands for accountability and immediate intervention.

The protesting students expressed anger over the institute administration’s silence and inaction during the crisis, alleging that the power cut had severely hampered both academic activities and day-to-day life on campus.

Calling the situation “unacceptable,” the students urged the authorities to take urgent measures to restore normalcy and prevent such disruptions in the future
