Assam: Teacher accused of assaulting student over 'haircut' in Sribhumi school, parents demand action

A case of alleged physical abuse by a teacher has sparked outrage at Roland Memorial High School, in Assam's Sribhumi district where according to sources, a third-grade student was reportedly assaulted despite adhering to the school’s grooming policy.

As per the complaint filed by the student’s father, the school administration had issued a directive requiring students to trim their hair short. However, even after following the rule, the child was allegedly choked and had his hair pulled by a teacher inside the classroom. Several other parents have also come forward with similar grievances, raising concerns over the school’s disciplinary practices.

The incident led to heightened tensions on the school premises, with angry parents demanding immediate action against the accused teacher. The father of the affected student formally submitted a written complaint to the principal, detailing the repeated instances of harassment.
