Assam: Thieves strike at empty house in Bajali’s Bongaon area

A theft was reported at a residence in Assam's Bajali after miscreants allegedly broke into the house of a woman and decamped with cash and valuables.

According to reports, the incident took place at Bongaon area of Bajali where thieves broke open the lock of the house belonging to Ambika Deka when no one was present.

The miscreants reportedly stole Rs 25,000 in cash along with valuables and jewellery worth over Rs 1 lakh from the residence.

Sources said that Ambika Deka had travelled to Guwahati a few days ago along with her daughter for eye treatment. After returning home on Wednesday evening following the treatment, they discovered that the house had been broken into and ransacked.

On receiving information, police from Bajali reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
