Assam: Three houses gutted in fire at Juria’s Kathalguri, property worth Rs 10 lakh destroyed

Three houses were completely gutted in a devastating fire at Kathalguri village in Juria, Nagaon district, destroying cash, important documents, household belongings and other valuables.

The houses belonged to a person identified as Elahi Box. According to preliminary estimates, property worth around Rs 10 lakh was destroyed in the fire.

Local sources suspect that an electrical short circuit triggered the blaze. The fire reportedly spread rapidly, engulfing all three houses within a short time and leaving the family with extensive losses.

Following the incident, fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations with the assistance of local residents. The blaze was eventually brought under control, preventing it from spreading to several neighbouring houses.

Cash, important documents, furniture and other valuable belongings were among the items destroyed in the fire.

Although the estimated loss stands at around Rs 10 lakh, the exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.

The affected family has been left facing significant losses, while the suspected cause of the fire has also raised concerns over electrical safety in the area.
