Assam: Three missing children from Maibang rescued, reunited with family after swift police action

Three children who had gone missing from Assam’s Dima Hasao district were safely reunited with their family, bringing relief to anxious relatives and residents.

The incident was reported from Harichandrapur village under Maibang Police Station in Dima Hasao district. According to family members, the children went missing on the afternoon of March 2. Upon discovering their disappearance, the family immediately alerted the police and reached out to the media, triggering a rapid search effort.

As per preliminary information shared by the family, an unidentified woman allegedly approached the children, offered them food, and took them along. As news of the disappearance spread widely on social media, the woman reportedly abandoned the children at Lumding railway station before fleeing the area.

Railway police personnel subsequently ensured the children were put on a train headed towards Dima Hasao. During transit, a group of alert youths from the Haflong area identified the children based on details circulating online and promptly contacted their family using the phone number shared in public posts.

Acting swiftly on the information received, the Maibang Police traced and rescued the children and later handed them over safely to their family members.
