Assam: Tiwa Autonomous Council distributes livelihood support items to beneficiaries
The Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) on Wednesday, June 3, distributed a range of livelihood and utility items among beneficiaries from different parts of its jurisdiction as part of an initiative aimed at promoting self-reliance and improving livelihoods.
The distribution programme was held at the council premises and was attended by beneficiaries belonging to the Tiwa community from various areas under the council.
Items distributed included sewing machines, bicycles, tarpaulins, blankets, yarn and agricultural spray machines. Council officials said the initiative was intended to support women, farmers and economically weaker sections by providing resources that could contribute to income generation and daily livelihood needs.
Chief Executive Member of the Tiwa Autonomous Council, Jiban Chandra Konwar, handed over the items to the beneficiaries. Elected members representing the council's 36 constituencies, officials of the council secretariat and local residents were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Konwar said the council's objective was to promote self-reliance among families and ensure that the benefits of government welfare schemes reached people at the grassroots level.
The beneficiaries and local residents welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the assistance would help improve the socio-economic condition of women and small farmers in the region.
