Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sushmita Dev expressed satisfaction over the party’s performance in the recent Assam Panchayat elections, calling it a sign of growing grassroots strength.
“We contested 44 seats in the Anchalik Panchayat and 27 in the Zila Parishad, securing victory in five of them," she explained.
Furthermore, she informed that the party was unfairly defeated by the administration in one seat, with regards to which a case has been filed in the High Court. "We are awaiting the result," she added.
She noted that the Panchayat results were stronger than TMC’s Lok Sabha performance, underscoring the party’s expanding reach. “We now have district committees established across all districts, along with block-level committees," she said.
The TMC leader stated that the party's priority in the next two months "will be on strengthening the organisation", in preparation for the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) and MLA elections.
