Assam to hold state-level World Tourism Day celebration in Umrangso on September 27
For the first time, Assam’s state-level World Tourism Day celebration will be held in Dima Hasao district, with Umrangso set to host the event on September 27.
The programme is being organised to showcase Dima Hasao’s natural and cultural heritage and highlight its potential as a tourism destination in Assam.
The day-long programme will include a cleanliness drive, a gravel discussion, a plantation drive at the Golf Course, an open session and a cultural evening.
Discussions during the event will focus on themes including “Digital Agenda & Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism” and “Hill Tourism in Assam – Way Forward.”
Assam Tourism Minister Ajanta Neog will attend the programme as the chief guest, while Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa will be the guest of honour.
Dima Hasao MLA Rupali Langthasa and Diganta Baruah, Commissioner and Secretary of the Tourism, Home and Political Department, Government of Assam, along with other officials, dignitaries and tourism stakeholders, are also expected to attend.
The celebration is aimed at promoting Dima Hasao’s scenic landscapes, hills, cultural diversity and heritage, while drawing attention to its potential as a prominent hill tourism destination in Assam.
