Assam to name electronic city after Ratan Tata for his 'unparalleled contribution'

The Assam government will name its upcoming Electronic City after (L) Ratan Tata, recognising the industrial icon's transformative contributions to the state and national development.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the significance of honouring Tata's "unparalleled contribution" to the Tata Group, emphasising that Tata was the first Assam Baibhav awardee. The project will cover the Semiconductor and Electronics Logistics Park, including its proposed township and social infrastructure.

"As a mark of recognition to the tremendous role and contribution of Late Ratan Tata and the Tata Group towards the state's development, #AssamCabinet has decided to name the upcoming Electronic City in Jagiroad as Ratan Tata Electronic City, Jagiroad," Sarma announced on social media.

Ratan Tata, who passed away in October 2024 at 86, was more than an industrial leader. His global vision transformed the Tata Group, acquiring international brands and setting new benchmarks for Indian entrepreneurship.
