An unfortunate incident briefly marred the Republic Day celebrations at Ramkrishnanagar in Assam’s Sribhumi district on Monday, January 26 when the national tricolour was accidentally torn during the official flag-hoisting ceremony at the Ramkrishnanagar sub-divisional office.
According to officials, the mishap occurred at the moment the national flag was being unfurled as part of the ceremonial proceedings. The incident immediately drew the attention of the authorities present at the venue. Acting swiftly to uphold the dignity and sanctity of the national symbol, the district administration took prompt corrective measures.
Sub-Divisional Commissioner Nilotpal Pathak personally intervened in the matter and ensured that the torn flag was removed without delay. A fresh tricolour was subsequently hoisted in accordance with established protocol, restoring order and decorum to the ceremony.
